I'm seeing @charliekirk11's death being referred to as a political assassination. It was a Christian martyrdom. His primary goal was to share Christ. His morality stemmed from his faith, and his politics stemmed from his morality. But he was not a politician. He was a Christian messenger. He died because his morality ran counter to a political group that's been radicalized and militarized. We may not be comfortable with it, but this was martyrdom. Just because he was politically active doesn't change that. Also, even if his killer was politically motivated, it wouldn't matter. He wouldn't be the first martyr killed for political reasons...not by a long shot. He is the first public martyr on U.S. soil in a long time, though. We're not used to our calling to give up our lives for Christ, because we live in a rare time and place in Christian history where it's uncommon to even have that opportunity. Something to reflect on.

Most of us are cowards. We sit back and virtue signal on Facebook and are willing to risk virtually nothing to do the right thing, including even a modest amount of comfort.

We stay in our little comfortable bubbles of like-minded people, and hope we will never have to choose between that bubble and sticking our neck out for the greater good.

@charliekirk11 went into other bubbles of people who thought the worst about him and modeled how to have respectful and truthful dialogue in those bubbles while still sticking up for himself and his beliefs.

The guy was a unicorn. There are not many of his kind left. He's a Christian who modeled his faith when it wasn't easy and wasn't safe. How often do we profess Christ but fail in that?
