NEW: Tempe police release bodycam after officer strikes woman who attacked him during arrest

Early Sunday morning, three Tempe bicycle officers were arresting two men during a fight outside CASA and Sunbar when Eryn Kelise Bonner attempted to intervene.

After ignoring orders to step back, Bonner pushed between the officers.

During the struggle, police say she struck an officer multiple times in the face. The officer struck her once to gain control.

A viral video of the strike sparked backlash. Tempe PD later released bodycam and surveillance footage showing the full sequence.

The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office declined to prosecute Bonner. An internal investigation into the officer’s use of force is ongoing.
