Not to mention that ore used to be kind of a rude pronoun overall bc it indicates authority but it’s gotten SO casual over time

Boku is a soft-masculine pronoun & is used by girls at times & specifically in Mizuki’s case is meant to make their gender ambiguous. Watashi is formal, atashi is used but uchi is a slangy highly feminine pronoun as well. Girls in Japan even use Ore sometimes it’s just different!

First of all, Mizuki uses male japanese pronouns boku 僕/ボク . it's very rarely used by girls or almost never used. Instead, girls use watashi (私) or atashi (あたし), the latter being a shortened version of the former and more cute/feminine.

By “it’s just different” I mean the culture around pronoun usage in English vs in Japanese !! People use different pronouns depending on the situation and the formality ! Schoolboys who use ore with friends and family are more likely to use watashi in school because ore is casual
