I didn’t really have any relevant technical skills at the time, but poise under pressure is its own skill, and folks noticed.

My first lifestyle event made a deer-in-headlights look more prepared than me.

I did my best to not let my nervousness stop me from carrying myself authentically.

Nerves can always get you, but panic can undo your ability to be yourself or show your skills.

Panic would have ruined us.

We’d have lost time bringing on a new person, and momentum, thanks to having to change the whole performance, let alone reset the positive relationships between our performers and instructor.

All that work, powder in the wind if panic caught us out.

I’ve had to help a client respond to a moment of panic in my SFW job.

“Let’s think it through; the worry you have isn’t the only reason this can happen.” Is also a banger.

We got new “in-theme” moves for the show within a week, to the same standard we trusted, because we slowed down.

We managed the urge to panic and came out better for it when the next dance numbers came out clean.
