All three members of the Searcy County Election Commission, Laurie Gross, Ken Weekley and L.C. Ratchford, have resigned effective immediately. They cited ongoing pressure from the State Board of Election Commissioners and unresolved concerns about voter-roll accuracy ahead of the November general election.
For the past three years, Searcy County has stood alone in Arkansas as “the Paper Ballot County.” County officials adopted the system by ordinance in September of 2023, aiming to demonstrate that secure, transparent elections could be run at reasonable cost even in a rural area with limited resources.
