I just saw a TikTok that said “Do you know why the Universe didn’t allow our pets to speak? To teach us that Love & loyalty come through actions and not words” and idk yall, that just really hit. 🐕
Joy is a very rare energy in the human collective right now. So if you are someone who embodies this energy you have to stop apologizing for it. And recognize how much it is needed.

Any adult child who goes no contact is probably angry, yes, but really just sad. Sad that they don’t feel like they have the emotional safety to remain in a relationship with their parents who they wish could have been safer for them. Letting the parent fantasy go is hard.
Parents aren’t supposed to be perfect (they are humans after all!), but they are expected to be “good enough” by meeting their child’s physical and emotional needs more times than not (>50% of the time).

If a parent provided food and shelter but didn’t emotionally attune to their child often and instilled fear in their children, can they now expect their grown adult kid to feel safe to be around them?

"A phrase I heard recently and found useful: I agree with the idea, but I disagree with the tone.
Many ideas get dismissed because they are delivered in a cocky or hostile or dismissive tone—or because of who delivers them.

There are many ways to become more emotionally available:
Journaling about how you feel
Meditating to connect with yourself
Spending time being physically intimate and present with yourself
Doing activities that you discover you love
Going on self-dates
