With Iran — a key link in the International North-South Transport Corridor — disrupted by ongoing conflict, Pakistan is well-positioned to offer an alternative transit route for Eurasian trade by connecting the Arabian Sea with China and Central Asia, Amir Jahangir, Co-Founder and CEO of Mishal Pakistan told Sputnik.

👉 Given the disruptions near the Strait of Hormuz, Pakistani ports such as Karachi and Gwadar offer strategic advantages to shipping companies. These include access to the Arabian Sea away from active conflict zones, deep-water berths, reduced congestion, and expanding logistics infrastructure — all integrated with the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

This positions the ports as dependable transshipment hubs linking maritime routes to overland trade networks reaching into China and Central Asia, the expert noted.

Week one @CSSPR_UOL 's G4P was enriching and insightful. It started off with Dr. @Rabs_AA's thought-provoking lecture on scenario-building, stressing how sets of approaches to peacemaking must be identified and explored. This was followed by @khalidbanuri's session on looking at newer pathways to negotiating peace through fiction, Next, @puruesh delved into futures, urging the Fellows to think of different permutations and stories that could connect today's events with those of tomorrow to shape an alternative future. Thereafter, Feroz Hassan Khan shared his insight and experiences on gaming and table-top exercises to negotiate for peace, explaining their impacts on policymaking. After that, Dr. Andrew W. Reddie dabbled in the importance of wargaming, not least the experimental one, as a powerful, data-generating social science research method. The week was rounded off by incisive, excellent talks by Dr.@mbudjeryn and Dr. @DrBeeZee on the global nuclear landscape and the shifting elements of great power behaviors and competition, respectively.

These highly interactive sessions have nicely set the stage for week 2.
