Hello to all our new followers -- so glad to have you here with us as we #PushBackOnBackToMac! ☺
We thought we'd share a thread 🧵about some of the advocacy efforts we've been taking. We'll update this thread as we launch more advocacy projects, to keep things easy to access!
📣We are looking for youth to apply to be on our Youth Action Council!
The YAC is made up of youth with disabilities from across Hamilton & the Greater Toronto Area.
YAC is responsible for guiding the direction of campaign, research & education work done through committees📣
If your DEI practices don’t include protections from an ongoing pandemic, you’re excluding disabled & high risk people which means…you’re not practicing equity + inclusivity
"Unfortunately, since BQ and XBB sublineages are resistant to bebtelovimab, the only active mAb against circulating SARS-CoV-2 strains, clinicians have no authorized therapeutic mAb for treatment."

"Overall, vaccination with or without prior SARS-CoV-2 infection and even booster shots of novel bivalent (WA1-BA.5) mRNA vaccines did not confer protection against any of the four Omicron XB and BQ subvariants" 1/x

Planning on picketing tomorrow? Hell ya! Here's some tips for how to get more disabled ppl out on the picket line:
- Wear N95s & bring some to distribute
- Provide chairs & wheelchairs as you are able
- Bring ear plugs & some to share
- Don't call disabled children special needs

Youth Action Council, Devin Glim, needs our help! He led the organizing around snow clearing in #HamOnt in 2019. He needs an assistive device that isn't publicly funded. Assistive devices should be FREE 1/

@chrissanislo@Fisherman6996@McMasterU@cityofhamilton@HamiltonPolice@WilsonLeaders Yeah. The trucker convoy has well established ties to white supremacist groups.
Not to mention the ways these calls for "freedom" have been enabled the ongoing genocide of disabled, bipoc, poor, and older folks etc throughout the ongoing pandemic.
We all contribute to protecting our loved ones and our community by #masking. If you can't afford high-quality, N95-comparable #masks to protect you and yours in #Canada, our #DonateMask#charity will send them to you for #FREE. Visit https://t.co/BhKCDQKZP7 to request them!
BREAKING: Canada has now lost more lives to COVID than we did in all of World War II.
44370 Canadians have died from Covid, including my father. And if you think it’s “almost over,” remember that more have died of Covid this year already than in 2020 or 2021.
#BREAKING: Ontario continues to promote this myth that pandemic is over, thereby ensuring that an innumerable amount of death will continue to occur as the virus spreads through: schools, long term care, hospitals, daycares, workplaces, prisons, and every other congregate setting
How can students 'excel' when they have to worry about catching COVID from un-masked peers and spreading it to their loved ones?
For students to 'excel,' they need a learning environment that is safe, equitable, & accessible -- not one that treats their lives as disposable.
