ICRISAT at Bharat Soil Health Policy Consultation Workshop!
Dr Pushpajeet Lokpal Choudhari (@PushpajeetC), Scientist – Soil Science, ICRISAT, participated in the Bharat Soil Health Policy Consultation Workshop held at ICAR‑CRIDA, Hyderabad, where experts and stakeholders deliberated on strengthening India’s soil health framework. He actively joined the discussions and shared insights contributing to policy-oriented dialogue on sustainable soil health management.
ICRISAT, through the Odisha Agricultural Drought Mitigation Project (OADMP), in partnership with the National Disaster Management Authority (@ndmaindia) and the Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment, Government of #Odisha (@k@krushibibhag), initiated two impactful field initiatives in April 2026.
A geo-referenced soil sampling drive covered 1,850 samples in #Nabarangpur and #Nuapada, using real-time digital tools to enable precise, site-specific fertilizer recommendations and address key soil nutrient gaps.
Aerobic composting was introduced in both districts, with 750 farm-level demonstrations per district, converting crop residues into nutrient-rich compost to improve soil organic carbon, enhance soil fertility, and support carbon sequestration. Capacity-building sessions trained about 75 farmers in composting, carbon balance, and moisture management.
Advancing soil health and regenerative agriculture. We were delighted to welcome a high-level delegation from Niger to the CRA Soil Laboratory, @ICRISAT highlighting our facilities, achievements, and shared commitment to sustainable land management.
Happy #WorldSoilDay!
To mark UN World Soil Day 2025, our soil lab team recreated this beautiful artwork inspired by this year’s @FAO theme, “Healthy Soils for Healthy Cities.”
We remain committed to expanding soil testing for farmers and raising awareness about healthy soils
This UN #WorldSoilDay, themed “Healthy #Soils for Healthy Cities,” highlights a powerful reality: the condition of rural soils shapes the cities.
