@robkhenderson Not inconsistent if referring to two different groups. Per the movie, there is a large cohort of people who perhaps go with the flow too much, in particular when it threatens their very survival, and there is another group of people who egregiously break laws and harm others.
@Hitchslap1 A bad system that rewards short-term thinking in terms of economy, compassion, and many other things. A bad system that does not act in the interest of citizens generally, but instead special interest groups and the very rich.

@Matt63843@offgridstone Thinking people who do things you don't like are evil is a big mistake most of the time, and is more of a hard left thing at least these days. Let's not do that. I think on the whole it actually helps them, since it drives an unnecessary wedge between otherwise likeminded people.
@harrypyoda@CrossAndCaptial The SWAT team members are not just like the judge. Extremely different levels of agency. A judge gets to take each case individually and can greatly affect how they go. A SWAT team member can either take the package deal of following orders or have a replacement cog do it.
@Autisticjonwick@CrossAndCaptial SWAT members may not have good information. They also don't have much agency, by design. They are unlikely to be asked if they feel like doing a particular thing on a particular day. They could quit entirely, but they aren't lowlifes just because they don't ruin their careers.
@elonmusk Anyone decrying this movie should spend more time decrying the background the movie accurately depicts.
(spoilers)
Also, the foreground story could really have done without the SWAT and brothel scenes, but it's mostly just a hero fighting crime inadequately being dealt with.
@SBozzled@DavidBRich999@elonmusk A person who takes action against a "psychotic murdering piece of garbage" is not nearly as bad. It's not ideal, since the ideal is the government handling it justly, but if the government does not do so then action by private citizens may be the next best thing.
@KroyyShian Something that actually incites violence: Actual violence.
Also, governments creating the conditions for more conflict, against public will.
Also two-tier law enforcement.
Also trampling on freedom of speech.
We should condemn all of the above much more than we do any movie.
@BullMooseMemes While women appear more likely to support immigration of people who should not on the whole immigrate, I don't think a majority of even that cohort actually supports it. The real culprits are politicians going against what citizens want. Also, bureaucrats should not set policy.
@di_nitterwitter@BullMooseMemes Good context. The voting patterns are pretty similar. Who is really to blame here are the politicians in nearly every western country, who keep doing the opposite of people vote for on immigration.
Still, elections can be decided by small margins and women do skew progressive.
@jess_ann_pin So people who want to eat junky food or take recreational drugs are to be denigrated and people who make and sell such food or drugs are to be praised? No, if any of those things is immoral it is the conscious choices of people to participate in a market of bad options.
@PeterFerreira8@TRobinsonNewEra They're also dismantling the engine that provides wealth and development for anyone (all for short term labour costs and GDP numbers). Foreign aid over immigration. Keep nations intact, then they can prosper and provide help to other nations to maybe achieve their own prosperity.
@thatboyysauce@RedWallPleb@LucianFick@elonmusk I'm not sure what you mean here. It seems like you are talking about countries sharing criminal records with each other, but what I've been referring to, and what I would guess the list is referring to as well, is just countries collecting data on crimes within their own borders.
@thatboyysauce@RedWallPleb@LucianFick@elonmusk I wonder that too. Governments of all countries definitely should be collecting and reporting these kids of data, but some may be negligent or worse there. Also, I'm surprised Pakistanis are so low on this list, given their infamy in the UK. That does make the list suspicious.
@MonteMcNaughton@MarkJCarney ONLY children should be kept from social media, and this is to be done BY THEIR PARENTS, not by draconian laws compromising the PRIVACY of ADULTS and the tearing at the fabric of the INTERNET by reducing the freedom of people to contribute to it or even simply read what is on it.
@Canada4Europe@MelissaLMRogers Plebiscite or it doesn't count.
Also you only supported half of your assertions with any evidence.
Also, joining a supernational organization and joining a country aren't comparable if you mean complete subsumption in the latter case. Canada-US are already joined in other ways.
