2020 filers, watch your mail.
Some pending I-485s are now being transferred to National Benefits Center.
Been waiting almost 2 years up to this point. Still not over.

If you received a transfer notice to National Benefits Center (NBC), there's a good chance that your I-485 EB may be approved in about 3 months or so. May also get transfer notice to local office or RFE for medical.

N-400 processing update for Baltimore, MD
We are currently receiving interview notices for N-400 naturalization applications filed in March 2022.
About a 3 to 4 months wait.
If your Priority Date is current and are filing I-140 and I-485 concurrently, know that the I-485 will not be processed until I-140 is approved. But, I-765 (EAD) and I-131 (AP) will be processed as part of the I-485 filing even if I-140 is still pending.
USCIS' new processing time is better than before, showing a singular processing time for 80% of cases in the past 6 months. But it does not capture the current processing time which may be a lot faster.

E & L spouses don't need separate work authorization (EAD) to work. Work auth is now evidenced by either I-797 approval notice or I-94.
Since Jan 2022, USCIS & CBP have been issuing new notices and updating I-94s to reflect the new rule.

We are now receiving I-485 J receipt notices as a result of the โtransfer of underlying basisโ requests filed in January 2022. No I-485 approved yet as a direct result of the "transfer". #I485#I485j

Know about the new analytical framework which broadens the grant of National Interest Waiver petitions. There are also policy updates relating to STEM field, letters from government entities, and provisional degrees. #niw#eb2niw
When patience pays off
It seems that stand-alone I-485s are being processed faster than concurr I-485s ( filed w/ downgr I-140).
We received an approval filed in Dec 2021. 4 mo wait. Applicant could've filed in Oct 2020 but decided to wait instead.

DOS visa bulletin out for May 2022:
Dates of Filing
EB2 India advances from 09/01/2014 to 12/01/2014
No changes for China
The expectation is that visa numbers will advance significantly during the third quarter (July).
Don't amend an I-140 when qualifying for a new EB category. Instead, just a file a new I-140. This way you'll end up with two I-140s, for ex I-140 EB2 and I-140 EB3. You can benefit from either of the two and transfer the underlying basis when necessary.

EADs filed together with I-485 family-based are being processed extremely fast. We received approval today of an EAD that was filed on February 11, 2022. Note again, this trend only applies to family-based I-485s
Additional time for responding to RFEs and other notices will continue. 60 days on top of the deadline listed in the notice (03/01/2020 and 07/22/2022).
Also, 90 days to file an appeal/motion, from the date of the decision (11/01/2021 and 07/25/2022).

EB2 India advances one year from 09/01/2013 to 09/01/2014. USCIS encourages all eligible to apply for GC next month. But are there really that many out there? Many may have already downgraded to EB3 and already submitted I-485s.

Some positive signs for the Oct 2020 batch still pending adjudication. We are seeing I-485s EB being transferred to random local field offices (like US virgin island) and have received RFEs for updated supplement J. Hopefully adjudications will speed up soon. #I485
