In game support says there is no limit via conversations. The help pages don't say there is a limit either. Yet plenty of people say there has always been a limit of 100. I stop being able to get gifts after I've sent around 100.

@NianticHelp Is there a cap on the number of gifts you can send per day? Is there a cap on the number of gifts you can obtain per day to send to other trainers? Feels like it's around 100 which is pathetic being as we can have 400 friends these days.

@PokemonGoApp We have a challenge to send lots of gifts but stops/gyms stop giving them when sent around 100. Help doesn't say this is the case & your help teams say we should keep getting gifts if we can send them. What's happening? It's not a new issue.

@NianticHelp Yesterday I was unable to send gifts to all of my friends who could receive one. I was 5 gifts short. Today I was able to send 89 gifts. I had 5 from my buddy and had 16 gifts in my bag. Gifts stopped appearing from spins. There is a limit somewhere.

@NianticHelp What's happened to the gift drop from my buddy? Self-isolating & can't go out to spin stops. Am dependent on gift drop to be able to send any gifts. Waiting for 5 hours now

@NianticHelp According to in-game rules I should be able to send a gift to each friend daily. I have 277 but was only on about 130 sent gifts at the time.
