“VBS has entered the chat.” The Madlanga Commission has now heard allegations linking the case to the VBS Mutual Bank scandal. Evidence presented suggests confidential police information relating to a VBS complainant was allegedly shared through intermediaries.

This has expanded the commission’s inquiry beyond Crime Intelligence to include alleged connections involving politicians, business figures, and the VBS matter. South Africa must be one of the few countries in the world where a multibillionaire President is found with hundreds of thousands of dollars hidden inside his furniture; where a Deputy President owns mansions worth tens of millions of rand; where a police officer can afford a R39 million house; and where a municipal manager spends millions on a London shopping trip using a chartered flight costing R3 million.

Then we are lectured about “fiscal discipline”, “tightening our belts” and “living within our means.” A country where obscene wealth coexists with mass unemployment, hunger and collapsing public services is not suffering from a shortage of resources—it is suffering from a crisis of priorities, accountability and inequality.

The City Council was very quick to condemn the Metro Centre overnight. A building that had nothing wrong with it. Meanwhile, the Alex Hostel is crumbling.

Why? It’s simple. There’s nothing much to loot at the Alex Hostel where vulnerable women and children live. But the Metro Centre condemnation unlocks tenders, contracts and relocations.

If they can’t benefit from it financially, they neglect it. That’s the ANC/EFF/PA coalition of corruption.

Taxi bosses get arrested for extortion. They apply for bail, and the State Prosecutor handling the case fails to appear in court for the bail hearing due to threats and intimidation. The Magistrate strikes the case off the court roll and issues and warrant of arrest for the State Prosecutor. The NPA initiates a disciplinary hearing against the State Prosecuter.
The NPA puts a complaint against the Magistrate for the manner in which she handled the bail application. The Magistrates resigns
