@RamaphiriMpho Phumzile van Damnit is just a content creator, she will say idiotic things to get attention. She's probably going to join the EFF at some point so that should tell you how retarded she is .
South Africans are gradually being denied catering contracts at hospitals and prisons because the food must be halal and only Muslims can do halal. Don't gaslight us when Somalis were using this to fight for catering in EC hospitals recently.
We are being forced
I work in construction too and you're right.
Local guys will speak up about safety and long hours. Foreign guys can't, so they just take it.
But that's not better work ethic, that's just fear of job-loss.
I might be missing your point, what's your definition of work ethic?
I walked past so many Somalian owned shops today, I was super excited to see a young South African owning a shop amongst all those foreigners owned shops. We supported him greatly today.
We will NEVER deal with illegal immigration and the crimes that come with it for as long as we don't deal with corruption within our institutions. SAPS is really a disappointment.
Cape Town:
Members of the @SAPoliceService reportedly left the scene without searching a group of Nigerian men on Voortrekker Road in Cape Town, who have repeatedly been accused by members of the local community of alleged drug dealing and pimping.
A social media user known as “Cape Town Audits,” who has been documenting alleged wrongdoing in Cape Town, visited the area to investigate the complaints firsthand. During the encounter, one of the men reportedly became defensive and threatened to attack the person recording the incident.
What shocked members of the community was the brief presence of the SAPS van, which reportedly remained at the scene for less than two minutes before leaving. The officers’ departure raised questions about whether a proper investigation had been conducted and whether sufficient steps had been taken to prevent the confrontation from escalating and anyone from getting hurt.
@GalaxyTwoTwenty@SAPoliceService How do you feel as a SAPS member allowing nigerians to sell drugs in SA? It really bothers me how the people responsible for stopping this are the ones enabling it. What exactly do they want? Do they not want a functioning country? Genuine question to pigs like this.
Today, I spent some time in Region 7 - in areas that have been impacted by the Bronkhorstspruit Water Treatment Plant crisis.
We are determined to ensure that all households in the area have access to water through water tankers, Jojo tanks and boreholes. This is a temporary measure as refurbishments continue at the Bronkhorstspruit Water Treatment Plant.
Work at the plant is progressing smoothly as Rand Water continues with upgrades that will ensure that residents can receive clean water through the taps.
We continue to appeal to residents that may still feel unwell to visit health facilities. Water that was previously stored from municipal taps must be discarded. @CityTshwane
BBC News, I am a foreigner living in South Africa, and I believe your reporting is doing an injustice to this country when you highlight violence against foreigners without giving equal attention to the serious crime that fuels public frustration.
As a foreigner, I refuse to pretend that crime committed by other foreigners is not a problem simply because I am one of them. My nationality does not require me to defend wrongdoing, and my empathy for foreigners does not require me to dismiss the legitimate concerns of South Africans.
There are reports of foreign nationals implicated in drug trafficking, human trafficking, illegal drug laboratories and cable theft. A foreign national was also reportedly involved in running over a Crime Intelligence specialist. These incidents deserve serious scrutiny and consistent reporting, too.
If BBC News can report when a foreigner is beaten to death, it should also report on crimes committed against South Africans, regardless of the perpetrator’s nationality. If you believe violence against foreigners deserves international attention, surely the victims of crimes committed by foreigners deserve that same attention.
Accountability cannot be selective. Human rights apply to everyone, and so must the law.
Let me be clear: beating someone to death is indefensible, and no crime justifies mob justice. But condemning mob violence must not become an excuse to avoid discussing crime, immigration enforcement and the failures that leave communities feeling unsafe.
South Africans deserve safety, and foreigners who commit crimes must face the law. These positions are not contradictory.
Do not use the death of one person to silence an entire country’s concerns. Report the killing, condemn the violence, and give the broader issue of crime the same seriousness. That is what fair and responsible journalism should look like.
DEVELOPING:
Police have uncovered another suspected clandestine drug laboratory at Ramokokastad, near Sun City in North West.
Operation led to seizure of 20 bags of suspected drug material, weighing approximately 40kg each, along with large quantities of chemicals, gas cylinders, generators, cooking equipment, water tanks and other materials allegedly used in drug manufacturing.
Preliminary observations suggest the premises may have been used to manufacture Mandrax and crystal methamphetamine.
Four suspects, aged between 19 and 71, were arrested. A fifth suspect reportedly fled and is being sought.
The suspects are expected to appear in the Mogwase Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 26 October, facing charges of manufacturing and dealing in illicit drugs.
Breakthrough by the Hawks and other specialised police teams.
