I am excited to share our latest publication on wildfire protection, a paper led by @DossiSimona in the journal Fire and Materials.

"Exploratory Simulations on the Effectiveness of Sand Protection Strategies Against Firebrand Accumulation in Wildfires"

We investigated how infrastructure protection designed against sand accumulation can be adapted to fight firebrands during wildfires. Using computer simulations, we evaluated the performance of trench and wall barriers in shielding structures from firebrands under varying wind conditions. Findings suggest these strategies can significantly reduce firebrand exposure, translating innovation from another field to enhance wildfire safety.
