I watched a TikTok asking why millennials have such a deep attachment to nostalgia. "I can easily answer that," I thought, eating Lucky Charms and wearing a tattoo choker.

It's simple, really — the 90s were anything we wanted it to be. It was a world made for us; or it felt like it, at least.

It was the age of change, and we’ll never be able to get back the newness of how it all felt. Internet, technology, communication, clothes, toys, food — it was all new, and specifically marketed to our generation.

We saw the world in VIVID color, and now everything seems almost muted in comparison. [If we're in a simulation, can someone please bump the saturation back up 20%, thanks]

The magical time period before everything went to hell with 9/11, war, recessions, and being forced to grow into people we didn’t want to be.

We went from being the generation everyone loved and hoped for, to the generation who ruined everything without even knowing it. From "Be Kind, Rewind" kids to "Economy-Ruining" adults overnight, somehow.

So we cling to items that bring us back to our past, and search for anything that might give us those same goosebumps we felt hearing the *door opening* sound of AOL Instant Messenger.

With our 90s/2000s playlists on repeat, we venture out into a world that is no longer made for us. No longer cares what we prefer, and blames us for the problems it faces.

So with all that being said, there shouldn't be any wonder why the 90s still has a chokehold over me and so many of us — it refuses to let go, and we'd be sad if it did.

Had an appointment today and after 20 or so years got a diagnosis for my dislocations as EDS. Very excited as physio starts soon and will be able to get more support to manage it 👍
