@theAliceRoberts 'The NHS', is a body of civil servants. Much like the house of commons, military and education & all other bodies of civil servants. The jobs are fairly secure & the budgets are approaching limitless.
@AlbertaLeonidas@JamesMelville Do some people consider all cooperative farms communist?

The idea was fine but governments were corrupt. Perhaps some people think that capitalist governments aren't corrupt and only care for the workers.

@SeanGar79500981@JamesMelville Fossil fuel nitrogen fertilizer are produced from gas. Other elements are mined. We are flushing those mined elements out to sea. That is a major problem!
Nitrogen can be replaced with non-fossil fuel sources.

@Janbuckley16@JamesMelville Farmers don't have time or money to sell produce directly. Some do, as it's often more expensive to buy, many people don't want to pay.
@andreaherbalist@JamesMelville Most farmers want to grow food cheaply and make a profit. Some will happily burn the planet to do so. Although they don't believe that they are doing so.
@walt27164683@JamesMelville You're jumping to conclusions. Albeit via an app owned by a billionaire. Are you suggesting social media was a planned idea to control people? Or has it evolved to have that potential?
@wutevauwan @JamesMelville He's a billionaire who invests in anything that will make a return. He probably also invests in biotech. He most likely views agriculture as a future tech project. GMO / robots, etc.
@anagram987@JamesMelville Government led wars create famine and inflation. As has always been the case
Don't people study history?
'Famines are not natural phenomena, they are catastrophic political failures.'

@QBitunjac@JamesMelville No one is forcing them. Many farmers see GMO as a cost saving. People can choose to buy more expensive non GMO. Most people want to buy the cheapest food.
