Carl Davis CBE, an American-born composer whose scores charmed TV audiences for 50 years, has died, his family has announced.
Davis wrote music for film and over 100 television programmes, including the beloved score to the 1995 adaptation of Jane Austen’s ‘Pride and Prejudice’.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, the composer moved to the UK in 1961. He also composed extensively for the stage and collaborated with Paul McCartney in composing the ‘Liverpool Oratorio’.
Farewell to a much-loved musical voice.
