@macrocephalopod Actually it seems they have limits on how much an account can redeem per week. Could be they are low enough that they can just keep redemptions open until things normalize. Don't know though
@macrocephalopod But Circle knows this, so if FDIC does not fix SVB mess by Monday morning, they will halt redemptions. It will scare people but the only alternative is USDC going to 0.
@carlosgpinto Excelente!
@s_r_constantin@StefanFSchubert I think the US must have a lot more younger drivers than other countries. In Europe it's very rare for someone to get a car while they are in highschool for instance. Maybe that drives the effect? Teenagers are more reckless
@GarettJones In the other direction a true genius can produce vastly more in their lifetime than even a very smart person. Think Einstein, von Neumann, Gauss, etc. And none of these were anywhere near 400 IQ, we have never seen anything even close to that.
@GarettJones This relationship surely breaks down very quickly. Do you really think an IQ 70 person is only 30% less productive than an IQ 100? Surely not, for a lot of tasks the productivity of the former is 0 or even negative.
@MW_Trades The fact that people long for FIX tells you the status quo is really bad. FIX is a horrible variable field length, text based but with unprintable characters protocol. Give me a nice binary spec please
@gregeganSF This was so good! The physics, the world building, the story! Vintage @gregeganSF, no-one else in history could have written this. FWIW, would happily read a novel (or 3) set in this universe. Or a 20 page PDF exploring the physics of Scale.
@OrthogonalAlpha Also one big upside of option 2 you didn't count is that on you get 1 year off to do whatever you want (disclosure: currently on garden leave and it is fantastic).
@OrthogonalAlpha Not sure how you are getting the 1.5 MM? Are you assuming total comp for second year is 500k? Note that for 3rd year (the noncompete period) they still have to pay you. Non paid non competes are not enforceable, no matter what the employment contract says.
