Thanks to returning Silver sponsor @qix_montreal for supporting PeeringDB and the #peering community! We appreciate your sponsorship for another year. #interconnection
We have received IXP OIX-1 certification from the @OIX_Association, the first IX in Canada to receive it.

Speaking of DNS, QIX members also have local access to popular public DNS resolvers such as 1.1.1.1, 8.8.8.8 & 9.9.9.9 and CIRA's cybersecurity-oriented public DNS (149.112.121.10 & 149.112.122.10)
Yesterday, with the help of @netnod , we brought an I-root DNS node online on QIX. This will help optimize latency for our members which was between 8ms to >100ms (based on our observations) to >1ms.
QIX members now have local access to root DNS servers E, D, F, I & K
We are happy to host a node of the K-root DNS (critical infrastructure), operated by @ripencc.
Latency to https://t.co/TMakEMhdxj for QIX members decreased from ~35ms (Miami, FL) to >1ms (local, downtown Montreal)
A big fibre cut is ongoing in downtown Montreal (Viger/Beaver Hall) since 03:00. Possibly an electrical fire in a manhole.
We lost redundancy at two of our sites, but we’re still 100% up!
Courage to our affected members and partners, this will probably be a long fix!
