Bouquets of Himalayan Balsam - removed about fifty Himalayan Balsam plants from the #RiverQuaggy between Manor Park and Staplehurst Road #HitherGreen#SE13
Nitrous Oxide cylinders are no laughing matter
A latest littering scourge is cylinders of N2O aka ‘laughing gas’.
Removed these dumped cylinders from a river bank.
Vapes still contaminate our streets + rivers with their metals, plastics, and chemicals, but at reduced levels.
Does this @envagency ‘Setting record straight’ blog on its dispute with @riverroding really mean “We recognise the value of working together for homes and habits”?
From our experience we also question the preceding sentence.

@EnvAgency@EnvAgencySE Good to see, but releasing species isn’t an end in itself, is it?
What are the project’s conservation aims?
What actions are in hand to improve the prospects for released crayfish?
What actions will address pollution of the water, and improve habitat?
Thanks.
Dodgy household plumping adding to the poor state of local rivers.
We don’t recognise much of Thames Water’s closing claims: “… All pollution reports are investigated within two hours…”

We’re going to this…
Local river expert, Lawrence Beale Collins, is presenting on how plastics, contaminants and invasive species are affecting our local rivers.
Upstairs at The Brookmill public house, near Brookmill Park #SE8 on Monday 25 May, 7pm.
See you there.

When we removed 200+ shopping bags of personal medical waste and take away containers from the #RiverQuaggy, we thought we’d dealt with the problem.
But the person dumping in the river in both @Royal_Greenwich and @LewishamCouncil is back at it.

These are some of wild flowers sprayed with pesticide on Sheffield streets today by @SheffCouncil Harts tongue fern, Forget-me-not, Herb Robert. In a nature reserve we'd delight in seeing them. Why do we poison them on our streets? We need to rethink our relationship with nature
One of our celebrity supporters, @reallorraine , highlighting the disgusting state of the M25 motorway, very close to Heathrow Airport. How can the board of @NationalHways continue to oversee this typically appalling sight all over England's motorways??? @HighwaysNews@LouiseBTS
A stump - all that’s left of a 300 year old mulberry tree once the centrepiece of the garden at Ladywell House. The Ladywell Society has written to planners criticising the failure to protect the tree which was heavily “pruned” by developers. https://t.co/GKgXaB2MSl
Pollution Update:
- Owner of the property on Manor Park that’s been polluting the #RiverQuaggy since at least 2022 is diverting the kitchen sink pipe that’s been pouring effluent direct into the river. Work due by 16/1.
- @LewishamCouncil could have acted on this 4 years ago.
@MayorofLondon@LDN_environment@LondonAssembly it’s not just sewage.
Our rivers are also in poor state due to routine drip-drip pollution from streets, dodgy plumbing, and being stuck in concrete.
Plus, the system to report pollution isn’t fit for purpose, as we show here…
