It displeases me how many people get that story wrong.
Yes the thugs were racing. Yes JC was speeding. No he was not directly responsible for the two people who died, as they were racing in their own car and crashed.
Carter will answer to God in the end, but you have to stop pinning those deaths on him as if he were driving and they were passengers in his vehicle, because that’s not what happened.
That guy sold us out to Bibi, we lost 13 service members, had our fleets and Air bases attacked in the middle east, AND lost the war after accomplishing nothing other than giving up $300 billion to Iran.
Trump only gets a small semblance of gratitude for eventually realizing the madness he was dragged into and pulling out of it, but by no means does it grant him forgiveness.
The Trump thing is because whatever zoomer runs the White House account just sees what’s trending at any given time and makes some AI bullshit out of it
I agree that D2 became expensive and underperformed. I disagree that Marathon had nothing to do with it.
Marathon had an indirect effect on the Destiny franchise. D2 suffered when Bungie’s internal reorganizing pulled developers away to go work on the Marathon teams, especially after the gaming industry layoffs of 2023 and so on. Still, the game was functioning but it suffered from diverted commitments.
Yes D2 underperformed over recent years, but that is the result of pulling away from a golden egg franchise that previously had a dedicated supply of effort, and then letting it waste away while contributions were put elsewhere. On top of this, the studio kept downsizing, making it difficult to continue support of such a big game while developing another one.
Destiny became expensive because funds were allocated towards Marathon, and it wasn’t making money back because the effort put into it wasn’t the same as before. The lows were more frequent than the highs because of narratives like the Lightfall Campaign, the seasonal model becoming dry, FOMO, time-gating, an abundance of nerfs, and lack of developer open-mindedness to listen to the players. Bungie also had a couple of notorious years recently where there was a total lack of communication to the public.
This goes without saying that even though the game had rough patches, it was always an update away from being back again. Just look at the player numbers from the June update. If that kind of love was put into the game sooner, its player base probably wouldn’t have dropped so low.
I believe Destiny would have survived in either of the following scenarios:
1.) If Marathon never happened, and
2.) If the layoffs of 2023 never happened.
Had the studio maintained its original pre-2023 numbers, it’s possible the two games would have probably been developed/supported simultaneously. There is also an obvious executive management issue that is part of the problem too, but it’s just one of many factors.
@666718@PaulTassi Yea Google’s image results are actually ass but the real Torkan is the guy on the left. The woman and the man to the right are there because their photos were retrieved from Google’s engine when referencing Poria Torkan’s page.
I don’t doubt the possibility of Sony pulling the plug on Destiny’s server infrastructure and forgoing the cost of upkeep for a game they just killed.
I was having a discussion with a friend about this earlier in the week. I give it until the end of the year until D2 is completely offline, unless some bigwig has a change of heart.
Otherwise, the resources and equipment, manpower, and money will likely be repurposed and reoriented into Marathon and whatever they have coming next. It’s pretty clear that Sony’s VIPs just want this Bungie situation to end already.
I wouldn’t be surprised if by this time next year Bungie doesn’t exist anymore.
"The Phillies and Mets are a mess right now."
17 straight losses combined between Philly and New York. What is going on with these teams that were expected to compete for the NL East title?
@KevinBurkhardt | @DTrainMLB
I’ve felt so bitter over this Destiny situation. It is the only other game I have close to 8,000 hours played in.
Not sure what to feel other than knowing the only feeling there is, is to just accept this and move on.
@yesdog96@Luckstruck9@Jobbotoesgarden We can't say next week is our "final" hotfix because we may have some upkeep patches in the future.
...but right now, it's our final bug fix pass for gameplay.
