‘War, Empire and Sabotage in an Age of Genocide’ was the theme of this year’s 2026 British Society for Middle Eastern Studies (@OfficialBrismes) Annual Conference, the largest academic network in Europe focused on the study of the Middle East and North Africa.

More than two and a half years since the start of the genocide in Gaza, we spoke to academics about how they are addressing it in their research.
