@destinyforva Thank you for your service. So happy to have got to meet you recently. Now I know we have nurturing strength representing our district and proud of it.
Disappointing to see some of the people that I work with in the GA joining in the “Lock him up” chants on national TV.
Not only because you’re leaders who champion second chances, but more so the fact that you were so giddily joining in was really disappointing. 🤦♂️
Push and progress. Risk and grow… growth is found in the trials of the struggle, not in the comforts of familiarity…
Everyday, I’m building on my skills to be more effective in the digital world.
I’m progressing in WordPress and sharpening my new sword!
Brilliance Behind Bars is expanding deeper into woman’s’ prisons. We are bridging the gap for ALL incarcerated voices to be heard…

SMDH. The private prison industry has been the most NEFARIOUS ploy in American history.
It effectively exploited millions of disadvantaged Americans and lined the pockets of some of the most undeserved—all under public consent
Save yourselves ignore the political fearmonger.
In the last full year of Trump’s administration, private prison company GEO Group had 87 new contracts—more than in any year of Biden’s time in office.
It's no wonder GEO became the first corporation whose PAC maxed out to Trump’s campaign.

I commend @GovernorVA taking the common sense approach to recidivism and not continuing the long tradition of FLUFFING numbers up to buff up bogus narratives.
It’s true what they say, the governor who came in is never the governor who leaves out. Well what I say anyway ☺️
@BradleyRHaywood@VIDCsocial Thanks for the info. Obviously still work to do. Im trying to get in the field myself. Trying to get some experience as a paralegal, continue my education, move to law clerk, Virginia readers program, then bar.
I’ve been home for only 35 days. But moving steadily towards goals.
Oops, I forgot! If you do a REALLY great job AND you bill the court before annual funding runs out, you can get an EXTRA $850! In other words, an extra 9.44 hrs, meaning you can stick around until 3:50pm on the 3rd day of a 10 day trial (assuming you’ve done no prep whatsoever)
@inthesamedevice Wow. I wonder if the stereotype of black people not being able to swim actually source out of a racist reasoning to shut down black communities rec programs as well
@ChadDotsonVA Thank you for providing that level of humanness @ChadDotsonVA . That’s the type of leadership that will keep encouraging real rehabilitation in VA. Connection from top to bottom…
Interesting experience this AM at the graduation ceremony at Indian Creek Correctional Center. A young man who I sentenced when I was a judge earned his GED today.
“I’ve been working on changing everything, Judge,” he said to me, proud of his achievement. I’m proud of him too!
Plight of a returning citizen:
A trip to Publix showed me something…
I stood at a self checkout that didn’t take cash trying to shove a 50 dollar bill in the receipt dispenser. SMH. The embarrassment was so real.
There is some more to do for prisoners and digital literacy.
