human nature has clearly changed over time:
- people are vastly smarter thanks to better nutrition and abstract language environments
- people are less cruel and violent due to their distance from warfare
- exiting malthusian poverty removes many foundational traumas

As long as there have been rich people, there have been rich people trying to position themselves as populist crusaders against "experts," where "experts" are people with way less money and power who say things that rich people don't like to hear.

Given that election deniers just got whomped everywhere, the chances seem low that the House GOP would A) go in for an election-denial coup that everyone America would hate, and B) be able to exercise utterly perfect party discipline in favor of that coup.
That's not the worst possible scenario, but I do feel like this would have a significant possibility of spiraling into a world-destroying WW3. So hopefully Putin's generals will remove him if he tries this.
Yes, if there can be one positive thing to take from this freaking catastrophe, it’s that people will stop talking about war being relatively easy to execute. War is normally a disaster for the side waging it as well as the side being attacked.
