The problem with the discourse surrounding Baby Mama of War is that on one side you have the usual woke crowd that hates seeing women or black people in games, while on the other side you have people who genuinely are not interested in a God of War game starring Kratos' baby mama. Un guerrero espartano del siglo V a.C. viajando a Noruega ya es históricamente ridículo de por sí. Pero según el lore de God of War: Kratos mata a Zeus en la mitología griega (800-300 a.C.) y luego se muda tranquilamente a un mundo donde existen Odín, Thor y Freya (mitología nórdica del 800-1100 d.C.). Eso son más de 1.200 años de diferencia. O sea, Kratos ya es un ser que trasciende eras, continentes y panteones completos. El tipo es literalmente un viajero interdimensional mitológico. Pero claro… ahí sí no hay problema. El problema aparece cuando piden “realismo histórico” para el rostro de Laufey. Ahí de repente les importa la coherencia, la precisión cultural y la “representación correcta”. La misma gente que no tuvo ningún problema con un espartano calvo matando dioses griegos y después tomando café con enanos nórdicos, ahora llora por LA BELLEZA que unos piden en un personaje. Coherencia cero. Ideología identitaria hasta en los tuétanos.

If you really wanted a strong female character you had plenty of options, much better ones in fact.

Example (SPOILER ALERT):

Thrúd.

She literally WANTED to be the strongest valkyrie and is Thor's daughter (a god of war, yes, even if Tyr is also one). She can lift Mjolnir.
Kratos is literally alone and sad now and Thrúd lost her dad.
Make Kratos act as teacher for her. Let Kratos train her. And really NO ONE would have an issue with her being a strong woman when she got our beloved Kratos as teacher.

INSTEAD, YOU MADE:

A random ass woman who has never seen a fight, mythologically speaking, compete with Kratos and Thor (There is no evidence in the Poetic and Prose Edda that suggests Laufey was a warrior. In fact they say the opposite, she was fragile and weak. She was often called "Nàl"...which means needle).

I literally made a better story in 2 minutes as i was eating a taco during my break. Free of charge for ya.
