- Abike Shugga is an Instagram influencer and actress. She has featured in movies like Jenifa’s Diary, Agoalago, and Malika.

- In 2023, Abike was dragged on social media for allegedly being ungrateful and leaving one movie she was meant to promote for another. Now, she’s telling her side of the story.

- According to Abike, she used to be a TV presenter and once auditioned for a presenter role at Scene One Productions, which was handled by Funke Akindele’s ex-husband, JJC Skills. That was how she met Funke Akindele.

- During COVID, she decided to learn fashion designing. She bought her first sewing machine, posted it on Twitter, and it went viral. Toyin Abraham then sent her a DM and offered to pay for the machine.

- Abike later went for another audition for Jenifa’s Diary and was told Toyin Abraham was around. She reached out, they met, and Toyin promised to support her career.

- Toyin Abraham then featured Abike in a movie called “Agoalago” . Abike also got roles in Jenifa’s Diary, and her online presence began to grow.

- Abike revealed that Toyin encouraged her to attend meet-and-greet events. She also helped Toyin create content and was usually given ₦10k–₦15k after each session.

- She said she was paid ₦50k after spending two weeks on set shooting Agoalago.

- Meanwhile, she claimed she was paid $600 for promoting one of Funke Akindele’s movies and $800 for another series.

- Funke later invited her to act in a movie, but she declined because it clashed with Toyin Abraham’s project, only to later earn ₦50k for two scenes that were eventually deleted in “Ijakumo”

- Abike said she was paid ₦500k for a lead role in “Malika”after spending two months on set. She also claimed they shot over 100 content videos to be posted at Toyin Abraham’s direction.

- During a conversation with Toyin, she noticed that Toyin posted Mercy Aigbe’s movie on her page while she also had a project coming up.

- According to Abike, Toyin responded that there’s nothing wrong with supporting people you’re cool with, even if you’re not part of their projects.

- Based on that, Abike accepted a deal from Funke Akindele to post an unboxing video, claiming she informed Toyin beforehand.

- She said this didn’t sit well with Toyin Abraham, and she received calls and unpleasant voice notes from her.

- Abike alleged that Toyin told others she had betrayed her and claimed Toyin said she paid her ₦100k for content, something Abike denied, saying it was meant for another influencer.

- She also said Toyin instructed her to delete posts related to her work, but despite trying to plead, Toyin refused to listen.

- Abike claimed she lost a job opportunity because a producer said “someone” insisted she shouldn’t be cast.

- She added that Toyin has tried to reach out to her several times, but she doesn’t want to be involved in any drama.

- Toyin Abraham has responded to the allegations, saying she won’t speak on the issue publicly because Abike is like a daughter to her. She also said no one will pay an upcoming actress ₦500k for a role

- Abike concluded by saying she was never “picked from the gutter” but was already a work in progress.

I can never recommend the way I got married to someone else

I never saw this man face to face until he was coming to pay my bride price.

We knew each other for 6 months only talked seriously like 2 months out of that time.

And this man used speed to fly down to ask my parents for my hand

I can’t recommend it for anyone. Not even my siblings. Because humanly speaking that Time frame is too short.

Because what are the odds that the man you stumbled on on instagram Is the man you’ve prayed for all your life?

But it worked for us. We both knew and believed so much in our hearts that this was God bringing us together. And we’ve never had cause to regret.

This post is not about marriage per se but I need you to stay with me

I looked at the Bible closely and I saw that if Moses has used David’s stone it wouldn’t have worked

And there was no way Moses’s rod would have helped David kill Goliath

Infact do you remember Brother Samson? He only used the jaw bone of an ass once and threw it away.

If it were you and I today, after the kind of victory that the jawbone gave him, we would have put it inside our bag and protected it with our lives because you’ll think that’s where the victory lies.

But it wasn’t about the stone or the rod or the jawbone.

It was about God present with them

It was about God giving them victory.

And as long as God was there, that victory would continue

I’m sharing all these because as believers we are quick to look at others to copy what they are doing

When someone is experiencing victory we want to copy their prayer point word for word.

If a sister tells you that she found her husband when she was singing in the choir, the next Sunday you want to register in the choir unit when God specifically told you that you should be in the prayer band.

Because we don’t see the God behind the strategy. We think the victory is in the strategy.

If it’s not God that commanded you to use that rod, it will just be an ordinary stick.

For the first time today, I realized that the problem of Nigeria is not leadership per say, but the opportunists nature of its citizens.

I was scheduled for an appointment at the Russian Embassy Abuja by 11am today, and somehow, I missed my way to the Embassy. Instead of the Russian Embassy, I found myself at the UN Office which had the same structure painting with the Russian Embassy. I checked my time and it was 10:42am. Looking frustrated, I asked for directions and the security guards directed me to a cluster of Taxi Drivers at the opposite side. I crossed to the other side and immediately about five of the Taxi Drivers rushed towards me.

"Oga where you dey go"? They asked simultaneously

"Russian Embassy" I responded

"Ahhhhh! Russian Embassy. E far o" one of the men responded.

"Is about two hours drive from here" the man added

"How much will you take me there"? I asked

"Oga na 30k o" he responded

My heart skip.

I was pleading and negotiating with this man to please accept 20k as I was running out of time but he stood his ground.

A Hausa man hawking orange who was following our conversation, came behind me and whispered in Hausa "Dan dai kana sauri ne, Amman akasama zaka iya zuwa Russian Embassy" (if not because you are in a haste, you can trek to Russian Embassy).

The orange hawker then instructed me to follow him. I checked my time and it was 10:49am.

We trekked few miles, take just two turns and crossed over an overhead bridge. Boom! We are at the front of Russian Embassy.

I checked my time and it was 10:57am. I could not help but hug the man tightly until the orange on his stray start falling. We chatted for few minutes. He told me he came all the way from Ingawa Local Government in Katsina State. I told him I am from Funtua local government in Katsina State. We quickly exchange contact and I dash off.

While waiting for my turn to be invited into the Embassy, my mind traveled back to the Taxi Driver I was desperately begging to accept 20k. Some of us are worse than the leaders we complain everyday about. It's just opportunity we lack.

When my wife was about to go tell her mom that she wants to marry a blind person. I was expecting the worst.. She told her older sister first and her sister said to her that she has no issues with her getting married to me, she told my wife to go tell their mom.
Then after my wife visited her mom and came back to see me, my heart was beating bery fast. I was expecting her to say things like why would you marry a blind man, are there not other able men out there. but to my amusements, my wife said my mom is actually cool with us getting married,... come and see the way I opened my mouth. so I was curious and I asked my wife, so what did she say? My mother-in-law asked my wife first, OK do you love him? Are you ready to take the sacrifice of getting married to a person with Disability? then my wife said yes, then my mother-in-law replied, as long as you love him I give you my blessings, then she said jokingly to my wife, in Yoruba language, there are men out there who have eyes,but their head is not correct , as long as he loves you and his head is correct, I’m fine with it. I chuckled and said to my wife, like seriously? so my people it turns out that my wife is a replica of her mom. Such an amazing human being.
Till Today I don’t joke with my mother-in-law, I always call her my love anytime we talk on phone and she also responds with my love. For anyone trusting God for an amazing mother-in-law, may God grant onto you. 🙏.. share and don’t forget to follow for more of our family content.
