Pretty sure this is ‘Michelle from Watford’, who was given 11 minutes of airtime on BBC Three Counties this week to share all the ways we should feel sorry for him.

We heard how “upsetting” it was for him and his “trans sisters” to be told not to use the female toilet at a local pub.

And about the indignity of being told: “You shouldn’t be in here. You’re a man.”

We heard about his 19-year-old male friend being refused a bra fitting - something Michelle said should have been an “uplifting”, “rewarding” and “affirming” experience.

And how being told women might feel threatened or uncomfortable by his presence in their toilets is “hurtful”.

It’s upsetting, because he just wants to use the ladies and check his lipstick - without being challenged every time he goes to “powder his nose”.

In a BBC discussion about whether men who identify as women should be using women’s toilets, Michelle was one of three men chosen to speak on the topic.

Between them they got 30 minutes of airtime - on an issue that impacts women. There were no female guests.

A few decades ago, Michelle from Watford could have dressed like this and worn make-up if he liked. Each to their own and all that.

What people weren’t expected to do was agree this made him a woman - or accept him into female-only spaces.

And that’s the distinction many seem to miss.
