There is something particularly wicked about a man who knows how much you doubt him, listens as you explain your fears and suspicions, then repeatedly assures you that you have nothing to worry about, while knowing all along that you were right to doubt him.

He watches you lower your guard because you believe his reassurance, only to later reveal that the very thing you feared was true. That is more than ordinary dishonesty; it is a calculated abuse of trust.
