The highs and lows of querying are exhausting.

As an author, sending out queries and being on sub means any day can be the day for the best news ever to arrive.

And when the news isn't there on that last check of the inbox before bed, the disappointment can be soothed by "Well, maybe tomorrow..."

I assume the same goes for agents and editors -- any day can be the day their dream author and manuscript arrive.
