In the last seven years, as I've run adjacent to Southern Baptist Convention things, doing my best to help them understand and resist Woke (and not always appreciated for it), my biggest takeaway about the SBC is that it's basically the Dukes of Hazzard.

First, the SBC is one of the most crazy political organizations I've ever seen. I get that denominations are always political, but holy crap. It's been a huge turnoff, honestly, to see how worldly and petty some of its operators are.

But it's not just political. It's pretty much the bad guys in the Dukes of Hazzard. Al Mohler, mentioned in the post below, is roughly Boss Hogg, and we could say little William Wolfe ("the Lesser") is his good doofy inept sheriff, Roscoe P. Coltraine. Hyuk-hyuk-hyuk. They're always schemin' to get them Dukes!

As time goes on and my distance from them increases, all due to their end of things, not mine, this analogy, which I've thought for a long time now, gets funnier and funnier. Every time I see their posts, I can hear Waylon Jennings plucking his twang in the back of my head and feel like I'm gonna have to slide across the hood of my Charger again. Cracks me up!
