The scene is ridiculous in the best way:
one guy,
a coffee mug,
five silver Mac Studio boxes stacked like a tiny data center,
and a screen flashing LLAMA 3.1 405B.
The real story is not “Apple made a supercomputer.”
It is that small AI operators are starting to copy the data center pattern at home: stop treating one machine as the unit, and start treating the room as the unit.
Each Mac Studio in the video is described as an M2 Max box with 64GB of unified memory.
Alone, that is a strong local AI machine.
Clustered with EXO, it becomes a bet that multiple ordinary computers can act like one private inference pool.
That matters because local models hit a wall fast.
A laptop can run small Llama or Qwen models for notes, search, coding helpers, and basic agents.
But once you want bigger context, larger models, multiple users, or private client work running all day, the bottleneck becomes memory, not vibes.
This is why the stack is interesting:
