Claude Code helped a developer discover a crypto miner secretly running on their Mac.

The hidden XMRig miner was using around 1,175% CPU, roughly 12 cores, and pushing the Mac’s temperature to about 112°C.
Claude noticed the unusual process while helping with another project and identified it as the source of the problem.

The miner had also been configured to start automatically, allowing it to keep using the Mac’s hardware to mine cryptocurrency.

The developer was able to remove it
