Even when trans people use the bathroom the law requires, they can be threatened. This happened in Ohio, where no such law even exists - a trans man (assigned female at birth) was told to use the women's restroom, so he did. Campers thought he was a trans woman and beat him.

When this was attempted in HB2 in North Carolina, the enforcement was disastrous. Trans men in womens rooms, trans women in men's rooms. They took selfies as part of the #WeJustNeedtoPee protests that went viral at the time, helping bring down the law there.

The bill is HB1521. It says that if a trans person is in the bathroom of their gender at the same time as a cis person, they can be arrested and charged, with a 1 year jail sentence.

It applies to public owned or leased bathrooms, which is actually a LARGE list. See some here:

Florida's bathroom ban has taken effect overnight. Trans people now can be arrested and imprisoned for a year.

The law IGNORES legal gender markers, and enforcement is going to be a disaster.
