@BobHarig All the best @BobHarig . I’ve never forgotten your consideration and empathy to a colleague at Augusta in 2022. Always enjoy your work. You get under the lip of every bunker in the game.
The Irish @Everton have left their mark…from Farrell, Eglinton, O’Neill, Donovan and Clinton in the 1950s to Meagan in the 60s, then Sheedy and later, Kilbane, Carsley, among others including Jake O’Brien. Few carried the blue flame with greater distinction than Seamus Coleman.

It was a privilege to represent the @SoccerWritersIr at today’s golf classic @Castleknockgolf for the Irish Professional Footballers, whose ranks included Pat Byrne birthday boy and legend.
Everyone at Bohemians wishes to extend our deepest condolences to the family of our former player Noel Mitten, a league winner under Billy Young in 1975, who has sadly passed away: https://t.co/9VzJ3IgeKc
Nowhere like it links golf anywhere on the island….the towering dunes and crumpled turf tied to both seaside and village in timeless harmony. Old Tom of St Andrew’s must have felt at home when he mapped the original lay-out.
Former Walker Cup players Jody Fanagan, Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth & Scottie Scheffler recall their fondest memories of the Walker Cup, and their experiences at Lahinch Golf Club

Hard not to feel for Heimir H and ROI, esp vets Seamus Coleman and Robbie Brady. Such tiny margins. A needless jersey tug, the woodwork and a kamikaze shoot-out (78% chance of winning at 3-2). Szmodics KO a blow. Imagine the buzz for Denmark game? No one wants to play Tue now.
Gt work by @_MattyTurnbull. On weeks like this, I miss the reporting gig, watching training, attending pressers, the big match buzz. All the best to Heimir H and the players in Prague. Nothing pulls the nation together like a World Cup showdown for the ROI.

SWI send their condolences following the passing of 1990 Men’s Personality of the Year Damien Byrne. Captaining St Patrick’s Athletic to their first league title for 34 was recognised with the award. He’d won the Northern Ireland equivalent 3 years earlier playing for Ards. RIP
Shocking news. Damien Byrne was one of the finest of all club footballers, winning Player of the Year in the Irish League and the Soccer Writers’ Personality of the Year in the League of Ireland. A humble hero, a rock of decency, his passing will be felt hard by many. RIP Damien.
St Pat's pay tribute following death of league-winning former captain Damien Byrne
Byrne was the first St Pat’s player in 34 years to lift the league trophy after guiding Brian Kerr’s side to glory in the 1989/90 season.
