My landlord sent me a text at 8:03 on a Saturday morning.
“Your rent will increase by $200 starting next month.”
No single explanation, Not even a warning.
Just that.
Then I replied, “Is this allowed? My lease doesn't end for another four months.”
He responded, “The increase will begin when your current lease expires.”
I said, “Then why are you telling me it's starting next month?”
He read the message, No response. I called him, Straight to voicemail. I checked my lease again.
Sure enough, my rent was fixed until the end of the term.
So I waited.
Monday morning, he finally called. He said,
I paid $3,600 to renovate my kitchen.
Then my contractor opened the wall and found an $8,700 problem that had been hidden there for 12 years. We were halfway through the renovation when he stopped working.
He had opened part of the wall to run new plumbing & found old electrical wiring that wasn't up to current code, He told me he couldn't legally close the wall knowing the wiring was unsafe.
Fixing it would cost another $8,700.
I told him I hadn't agreed to that. Bro said, "he understand. But he can't cover this back up and pretend he didn't see it."
I called the electrician who had worked on the house before I bought it. He had retired, but his old company still had some records. They found an inspection report from 12 years earlier. The exact same wiring problem had been flagged.
The previous owner had apparently been told to fix it. There was no record that the work was ever completed. I contacted my insurance company. They told me that because I owned the house, the cost of bringing the wiring up to code was generally my........
I watched a grown man argue with a self-checkout machine for almost five minutes.
No he was stealing, Not because the machine was broken either....
It just kept saying, "Please place item in the bagging area."
He had already placed the item there, He moved it.
Put it back.
Lifted it up.
Put it down again, The machine kept repeating the same message.
Finally, he looked around the store and yelled,
"I AM PUTTING IT IN THE BAGGING AREA!"
I had to turn away because I was trying not to laugh. An employee finally walked over. She scanned the item manually and said,
I paid $1,800 to uncover my family's history.
But Instead, I was accidentally handed someone else's. I hired a professional genealogy company to trace my father's side of the family back to the early 1900s.
Six months later, the final report arrived.
Trust me It was incredible.
Birth records.
Military records.
Old newspaper articles.
Even handwritten wills.
While reading through it, I noticed references to a small piece of farmland that appeared to have remained in the same family for generations.
Now Out of curiosity, I contacted the county recorder's office. The property still existed.
But Before I could look into it any further, the genealogy company called. They admitted one of their researchers had accidentally attached another client's report to.......
Man... I thought I was finally getting a raise. Instead, I got a pizza party. On Friday afternoon, everyone in the office got an email saying there was a mandatory meeting at 3:00....
Rumors started immediately. "Raises." "Bonuses." "New benefits." "Our manager's been acting weird all week." By 3:00, the conference room was packed.
There were stacks of pizza boxes on the table. Our boss smiled and said, "I know everyone's been working really hard." People started nodding. Then he continued. "The company isn't in a position to
Bro..... I got a voicemail from my boss at 6:12 a.m. that just said, "Call me as soon as you wake up." My heart dropped. I spent the next twenty minutes convinced I was getting fired.
I called him back while brushing my teeth. He answered laughing. "You're not in trouble. I just wanted to know if you could cover Steve's shift." I almost hung up on him. I got to work anyway.
Around lunch, a woman came storming into the store carrying a half-eaten birthday cake. She slammed it on the counter. "I bought this yesterday and it's stale." My manager apologized and offered her a full refund. She crossed her arms. "I don't want a refund." "Okay... would you like another cake?" "No." "So...
I sold my car to a nice young couple. We signed the title. They paid cash, Everything seemed perfect.
About Three weeks later, I opened my mailbox and found six traffic tickets. Every single one had my name on it. Speeding. Red-light cameras. An unpaid toll. Tbh I thought the DMV had made a mistake. Then I checked the dates.
They were all after I sold the car. I called the buyer. Straight to voicemail, Texted, Nothing. Turns out they never transferred the title into their name. Legally, the car was still registered to me. Over the next two months, more tickets arrived. Then came a notice saying my driver's license could be suspended because the fines hadn't
I paid a wedding photographer $6,800.
The photos were incredible.
They just weren't my wedding.
About four weeks after our wedding, the photographer emailed a download link to our gallery.
My wife and I opened it together.
The pictures were beautiful.
The only problem was...
We didn't recognize a single person.
It was another couple's wedding.
I closed the gallery immediately and called the photographer.
She was horrified.
She apologized and sent me the correct gallery later that day.
I figured that was the end of it.
A week later, I received another call.
Broo I hate when a cashier says,
"You can use any open register."
Because they're lying.
There are never any actually open registers.
I picked one.
The woman in front of me had exactly two items.
Perfect.
This'll be quick.
Then she reached into her purse.
Not for a credit card.
For...
Coupons.
Not one.
Not five.
A stack so thick it had its own zip code.
The cashier scanned one.
Beep.
"That one's expired."
Next one.
Beep.
"That's for a different store."
Next one.
Beep.
"Ma'am, this one expired during the Obama administration."
Meanwhile, the guy behind me switched lines.
Smart.
Except the line he switched to immediately got stuck behind someone buying a gift card,

I think self-checkout has become my biggest enemy.
I had exactly six things.
Six.
I honestly thought I'd be out of the store in two minutes.
I scanned a loaf of bread.
Success.
Scanned a gallon of milk.
Still doing great.
Then I picked up bananas.
The screen asked me to enter the produce code. I suddenly forgot that bananas had existed before that moment.
Was it 4011?
4101?
1401?
Why do bananas have a password?
I guessed wrong three times.
The machine started beeping like I was trying to hack into the.......
My paycheck suddenly stopped showing up on Fridays. At first, I figured payroll was just running late.
Then Monday came Still nothing, I asked my manager. Nigga looked confused and said, "It says you've been paid." I hadn't. Payroll pulled up the direct deposit information on my account.
The bank routing number wasn't mine, Neither was the account number.
Discovered Someone had logged into the employee payroll system and changed my direct deposit information the week before payday. My entire paycheck had gone to
