🇧🇼’s Collen Kebinatshipi is your June Athlete of the Month ‼️
Double world champ, Collen Kebinatshipi stormed to a #Diamondleague record of 43.54 over 400m at the @MEETINGPARIS 🤩
CONGRATULATIONS Botswana for hosting an amazing meet!! Successful from beginning to end!!
This race was indeed shot like a movie....cameramen, director, commentator, fans, and most importantly the athletes.....Wow!!! What a damn race!!🙌🏾🙌🏾
From just 12 km of paved roads at Independence in 1966 (when ~97% of our people lived in rural areas), Botswana’s GDP was a mere $51 million total (~$89 per capita). Literacy was extremely low, illiteracy over 75%, with only 22 university graduates and 100 high school graduates in the entire country.
Diamonds were discovered in 1967. Through visionary leadership and prudent partnership (Debswana), that diamond wealth built our entire nation.
Started from the Bottom and Now we’re here:
• Literacy rate: over 88%
• Rural population: down to ~26.5%
• Paved roads: over 11,800 km
• We are an upper-middle income country
This is Botswana’s Diamond Story, from cattle posts and dust to diamonds, development, and excellence. The medals aren’t just bling… they’re proof of our journey. Proudly Batswana! 🇧🇼💎✨

We don’t need the hype when we have the heart. Tell the US to bring their fastest…they are still going to be looking at our back numbers. 🇧🇼😤
