🐾💛 Meet Hot 💛🐾

Hot is one of our beloved driveway dogs, and a few days ago Malak noticed she was itching like crazy. She had developed a large hot spot on her neck, which was clearly causing her a lot of discomfort.

While the hot spot is large in size and looks pretty nasty, it’s important to know that these hot spots can develop very quickly, sometimes in just a short space of time.

Hot is now in the clinic receiving treatment, and we’re pleased to say she’s recovering well and feeling much more comfortable and will be able to go back outside to her buddies soon.

Our driveway dogs receive the same medical care and attention as the dogs inside the shelter — but that means our team must always be vigilant. Staff are constantly on the lookout for injuries, changes in behaviour, or signs that something isn’t quite right.

They’ve become true experts at spotting even the smallest issues early, and Hot is another example of why that matters. 💛🐶

Pray for Mina 💔

Mina is only ~3 years old and weighs just 17 lbs, all bones. She should be solid, wiggly, full of life. Instead, she was barely able to hold her head up. This didn’t happen overnight. She’s been suffering a long time… and is still gentle.

Her bloodwork tells the story:
• Anemic
• Pancreatitis
• Low protein & calcium
• Electrolytes off
• Refusing food
• So emaciated that X-rays were hard to read

Mina was hospitalized on IV fluids, had an ultrasound that cleared GI concerns, and is now in foster care. Rechecks are scheduled, she needs prescription food and ongoing medical care.
