@JesterJum@HeidiBriones Yeah, people just drive too poorly these days. I've had 3 people kill their radiators on my hitch instead of screwing up my bumper. Until all vehicles are self driving, my hitch is staying on. It saves them on an insurance claim anyways.
@Sheepinacart@aakashgupta People hit the cones and drums on my worksites numerous times a day. We typically dedicate at least a 2 person crew to constantly fix these items. I get calls on my projects from people claiming there were no signs, when we have a 1/2 mile of advanced warnings. It's distraction.
@Sheepinacart@aakashgupta I appreciate the informed input, but I believe this conclusion to be skewed. In the past 10 years, anti-collision technology and sensors drastically improved performance of drivers. Not accounting for these changes on it's a primary factor in incident reduction.
SCOOP: The Trump administration and Spirit Airlines are nearing a deal where the U.S. government would put up to $500 million into Spirit Airlines stock warrants to try to save the company, leading to a potential significant stake in the company.

@rantonsky@grok@PedrazaCFM_ Pressure, depth, and lack of ability to control air flow if you were ever even able to construct makes a tunnel more impossible than a bridge. Best bet would be a floating bridge, but it would be constantly catastrophically damaged and few cars could make it without gas.
@JeffClarkUS@rau9231 "the President of the Senate shall, in the presence of the Senate and House of Representatives, open all the certificates and the votes shall then be counted;–The person having the greatest number of votes for President, shall be the President"
@JeffClarkUS@rau9231 So you are in support of considering that any VP can unilaterally overturn the election results based on opinion and preference? You genuinely believe that is worth testing based on this language??? (Cont)
@CWT369181260995@Fat_Electrician This conversation is about this portion of the OP... So no... This is not for people who live their full time.
"Mamdani just reached a deal with Governor Kathy Hochul tax second homes valued over $5 million owned by out-of-state residents"
@dracphelan@Fat_Electrician Thanks for responding in earnest. I'm still trying to figure out why this tax is seen as such a bad thing. It feels like any alternative to out-of-state, 2nd home owners (apart from complete abandonment) is an improvement for the economy. But Tax/Mamdani = "bad always" to some.
@dracphelan@Fat_Electrician Ok, but those houses still exist... So they're either sold to people who live there full time and require the same maintenance plus their daily spending. Or they sell to developers who build new construction (more money) and bring in more residents and their spending.
