They have recognized that smoking combustible tobacco is the main risk. They have taken action by buying a vape. They are exploring a healthier alternative to smokin. With the right encouragement and incentives, they might quit smoking.

My main point is that "ย Quitting smoking would be easier if it were principally regarded as a consumer choice, not a medical procedure."

I was surprised to discover that Canada authorized sales of one brand of nicotine pouches, Zonnic, *as NRT* three weeks ago.
It's excellent news. But why is someone who follows this topic very closely (me) only finding out about it today?

Stephens: The lifetime risk of cancer from vaping is 0.4% of the risk from smoking
Murkett: 0.23% of the risk
Rodrigo: 0.9-1.4% that of smoking
Scungio:50,000 times less than smoking
Why are cancer orgs not telling smokers to switch?

@ColinMendelsohn @Filtermag_org Hi Colin. Thanks! Your book is amazing, great work. I took a back seat for a few months. Vaping seems almost a lost cause in Canada. Now nicotine pouches have become an issue and I am working to keep them on sale and in stores that sell tobacco. Enjoy your retirement!
ZONNIC nicotine pouches were authorized for sale by Health Canada as a nicotine replacement therapy following a two-year process in which ITCAN demonstrated the safety and the efficacy of the product. @ZonnicCanada https://t.co/Jt2BlGdyIP
ZONNIC can help you quit smoking by delivering nicotine to your body, temporarily relieving cravings and nicotine withdrawal symptoms.

The Royal College of Physicians supports the use of a range of flavours, including fruit flavours, to enable smoking cessation in adults. The use of flavours by adults trying to quit smoking is an integral part of the effectiveness of vaping as a quit aid

Zonnic and other brands of nicotine pouches are a new way to quit smoking. They safely provide nicotine for smokers. Properly regulated and marketed, they could save over a million lives in Canada alone.
