Whether it's a favourite story, a research project or a quiet place to learn, school libraries help students explore the world one page at a time. During Canadian Library Month we thank our library and learning commons staff for making those discoveries possible every day. #RVSED
The first attempt tells us something.
Maybe the student misunderstood the directions. Maybe the strategy did not work. Maybe they rushed, guessed, froze, or simply were not there yet.
Our response matters because students are learning what failure means from us.
If we immediately rescue them, lower the bar, or treat the miss like the end of the story, they may learn that getting it wrong means they are done.
Sometimes the better move is to help them look at what happened, make an adjustment, and try again.
The second attempt does not erase the first one. It uses it.

September is #AttendanceAwarenessMonth.
Have you read the new report from CASEL's Director of Research and Learning, Dr. Rista Plate: The Attendance Paradox?
The report shares findings from a CASEL survey of 400 teachers and administrators across the U.S., covering their concerns about student attendance, how much control they feel they have over improving it, and where school climate and belonging fit into the picture.
Download the report and see whether your feelings on the topic align with the survey responses. π½
