🚨 FIFA has cleared Folarin Balogun to play vs. Belgium.
Multiple outlets (The Athletic, Fox Sports, CBS Sports, Yahoo) confirmed his one-match suspension has been lifted/suspended, reversing what was called a done deal just a day ago.🤯

Key details:

✅ FIFA’s disciplinary committee stepped in and overturned the red card ruling

✅ Under FIFA’s own protocols, the play should not have been flagged to referee Raphael Claus by the video assistant, and Balogun wasn’t even cautioned on the field

✅ It’s not yet clear whether FIFA literally rescinded the red card outright, or if Balogun will have to serve the suspension at some later point

✅ The Athletic noted Cristiano Ronaldo faced a similar situation pre-tournament a two-match ban that FIFA suspended for a “one-year probation period” instead

✅ This is a massive, last-minute swing for Pochettino, who’d been planning around Pepi/Wright as replacements
