perception wise, LaMelo Ball is one of the most interesting cases ever where he has an abundance of aura moments and has amassed possibly the most aesthetically pleasing portfolio of passing and pull up shooting highlights in this era yet i've encountered so many people thinking he sucks, while it's the analytics heads who end up being the ones who defend him
i think it's just people extrapolating and mapping LaMelo's supposedly unserious off-court personality onto his actual on-court profile. But what they end up criticizing isn't the actual LaMelo Ball, who, by all accounts, has been one of NBA's best offensive engines this decade; they end up criticizing a caricature of a player that they made up themselves
BREAKING: Micah Nori has agreed to become the head coach of the Portland Trail Blazers, sources tell @TheAthletic. Nori was lead assistant of the Minnesota Timberwolves for the past five years. Nori, 52, signed a one-year deal with team options for each of the next two seasons.
idk if I’ll get to flesh it out on the pod, so:
I get *how* you land on Garza starting (struggles + foul trouble from Queta/Vuc)
I get *how* you land on Baylor starting (defense/OREB swing > Hauser)
I even get *how* you land on Ron Harper Jr (diff defensive look, maintain some rotation pattern integrity by pulling deeper from the bench, especially if *all* the Vuc minutes are gone)
But it’s still wild to me that those logic threads led to ALL THREE STARTING TOGETHER. A true too-much-dip moment from Joe that’s understandably gonna catch flak all offseason.
