Tottenham have actually done everything right this summer, the problem is that football doesn’t always reward you immediately for making the right decisions.

They’ve changed the squad, addressed several weak areas, backed a new manager, added more quality and tried to build a team that actually fits the direction they want to go in.

They didn’t make andom signings just for the sake of adding players. You can see there’s more thought behind the profiles they are bringing in and how those players are supposed to function together.

But this is where the patience comes in. A new squad still needs chemistry, a new manager needs time to establish his principles, and Tottenham have had an absurd amount of disruption through injuries and availability.

You can make 8/10 decisions in the transfer market and still look like a 5/10 team for a while.

That’s the part people struggle to understand about squad building. Recruitment fixes the ceiling of a team, but it doesn’t instantly create cohesion.

I actually think Tottenham are much closer to getting this right than the current noise suggests. The question is no longer whether they have enough talent. It is whether they can finally get continuity, stability and a clear tactical identity around that talent.
