@palm_blast Well it's not even remotely implied either cause as I said, I've labbed MANY characters across a bunch of franchises for hours upon days on end purely of interest in them. And 2XKO is the only fighter where this falls incredibly short for me.
@palm_blast No one's mad, I just think they've made some stupid choices when people were literally TELLING them what they wanted even since Alpha 1
Trust I got no issue running all the other fighters while I wait for a second character I can stick to. But they're behind, for a tag fighter
@palm_blast New, yes. Still not 'out there' choices like Asuka which most people hate. They were designed to fit a certain fantasy and they fit it well enough that they don't feel like wasted slots.
Senna and Thresh are def 'out there' given barely anyone asked for them.
@palm_blast Helps when you have a strong base roster like 2XKO failed to have. And helps when people can expect an interesting character in between the lesser popular ones
@palm_blast Well no, Characters like Faust, Anji, Pot, Zato, or Jack'O who I personally main-- Are just few and far in between, that's kind of the point
Nago/Gio are cool designs and I think their fantasies are executed really well, which is why one of them I've also mained at some point.
@palm_blast I've only had this in 2XKO with Ahri, Cait, +2 others. 3 of whom I dropped cause of how odd they feel to play in comparison to other characters from other games. Meanwhile, I struggle to stick to one character in the aforementioned games because I find a lot of them cool
@palm_blast I predominantly play fighting games these days. And in each one (SF6, 2XKO, Strive, GBVSR, Blazblue, etc.), I'll lab anywhere between 5-10 characters just off interest in their design/playstyle alone, for anywhere between 10 hours to sometimes 3 days if I really like them.
@palm_blast It wouldn't have gotten League/Valorant, or even SF6 numbers. But it could've at least done what Tokon is probably going to do come August. And again, there's plenty of choices outside the assassin archetype that would also fit. You don't need 1 Zato for every fighter you put in
@palm_blast That of which are keeping top players/content creators invested. But knowing how Riot is, if the game doesn't see any real growth or more success monetarily, one should expect even more team downsizing and far less content/prize pools going into 2027, if any at all.
@palm_blast I agree their expectations for it were unrealistic- but that's in part due to their god awful roster/choices from the jump, and how small it was/still is. I still only like Ahri for instance
But rn it's holding up atm solely on the money they're putting towards their tournaments
@palm_blast Also, there are assassins who aren't as mobile as Akali they could throw in that would still generate more hype and bring players in, Like Rengar and Kha would be a great duo. There's also warrior types, and mage types that would fit better than the likes of Cait
@palm_blast Most fighting games are going to be comprised of "edgy guys with swords or who punch people", because it's a fighting game. Just because you add "out there choices" like Braum, Teemo, etc- Doesn't mean it's inherently going to be what's best for the game, as indicative of layoffs
@palm_blast And it's not anything to do with "High playrate". It's more to do with what champs people would expect and fantasize about playing in a fighting game. I disagree that most people interested in the game would be more hype for Bard than Riven. You'd be delusional to think otherwise
@palm_blast "Good" meaning highly requested. And if they're able to make unique kits for characters like Cait/Senna, I see no reason they wouldn't be able to make Zed, Kat, or any other assassin feel unique from Akali
