Little girl just jumped into my arms and rested her head on my shoulder in the ED. Her dad said “she’s never seen a black doctor before and I think she thinks you’re Doc McStuffins”🥺
I’m overwhelmed by the amount of outreach I’ve received about this article.
When my husband asked why I continue to write, I said it’s so that I (WE) feel a little less alone.
I hope you feel seen.
You are good enough.

Say you don’t believe in evidence-based medicine without saying you don’t believe in evidence-based medicine.
DEI and anti-racism in medicine have been shown to benefit physicians, learners, and most importantly our patients. A respectable physician would not do this. Simple.
There is no evidence that suggests medical students’ learning of antiracist curricula or increasing the diverse representation of physicians leads to worse health outcomes. In fact, evidence suggests the opposite.
DEI efforts in medicine help save lives. This bill is dangerous.
I have never experienced this w/ a doctor before. I legit held back tears. We talked about stress management, healthy relationship w/ food & nutrition, better sleep, etc. She said, I’d rather you be in a larger body w/ healthy habits than have an unhealthy view of your body./

Have reached out to @GiantFood with no real response so now I may need an ID consult? What pathogens should I worry about with a severed snake head found in frozen green beans 🤢
Structural racism is a fundamental cause of racial inequities in health. This study shows historical redlining is associated with present-day disparities in kidney failure incidence https://t.co/QmQjNjhc0S

My favorite thing about my latest article on #womeninmedicine#wim in WashPo is how many folks are coming in to justify their disdain for having to be inconvenienced by paternity leave & ABSOLUTELY proving my point. You're part of the problem hon, sit in that discomfort pls!
