@EmilSutovsky While the FIDE Grand Swiss is a tremendous event, it is sad that it replaced the Isle of Man International, which was one of the best opens year-round.
Is there any chance FIDE could run a large open side-by-side to the 2027 Grand Swiss?
Thank you for your consideration 🙏
In today’s era of rapid technological advancement, strong anti-cheating measures are essential to protect the integrity of chess.
They may feel demanding, but ensure games are decided by skill. There have been times of doubt during games, but existing rules make it difficult to speak openly—highlighting the need for stronger systems.
These measures must be applied consistently across all FIDE events, including the FIDE World Cup and the Chess Olympiad.
I appreciate FIDE’s efforts in the Candidates and request they be standard in all major tournaments.@FIDE_chess
From Zero to 94: The Indian Chess Revolution Continues! Stunning to see this news in the paper this morning. Congratulations to Mayank Chakraborty from Assam for becoming India’s 94th (yes, 94th!) Grandmaster at just 16. I can’t help but muse aloud on how far we have come. I remember my student days, when the tally of Indian Grandmasters was zero. Back then, we celebrated the few “International Masters” (IMs) we had as the ultimate pioneers. We looked at the Chess Giants, Russia and the US, as if they were on another planet.
The breakthrough, which felt unbelievable then, came in 1988 when Vishy Anand became India’s first GM at the age of 18. Fast forward to today, and India is now the fastest-growing stable for elite talent, accounting for nearly 5% of the world’s total GM population. When you consider that we have the reigning World Champion (@DGukesh) and three players regularly in the world's top 10, it’s not exaggerated to speak of India as a chess superpower.
From a time when we had none to a time when we have 94 and are "the" force to be reckoned with, the journey has been nothing short of a Grandmasterclass. The 100th GM is now just a few moves away! 🇮🇳 ♟️

The perfect video to view on Holi…
Because the colours of India spring up in many different ways & surprise us.
Chillis laid out for drying create an amazingly beautiful tapestry when seen from above.
This is Guntur district in Andhra Pradesh which alone has a share of 15% in India’s chilli production.
Can, & should AP turn this seasonal crop into a tourist attraction?
It’s a winter harvest so the timing is right.
I’ve never been, but I suspect the problem is that the beauty of the patterns may not be visible at ground level.
Balloon rides?
Curate performances of local music and dance at that time & create a festival?
Other ideas?
I know many will feel that it should be left free of potentially disruptive tourists. But that overlooks the opportunity for the local farmers and communities to supplement their incomes.

Three things that an upcoming chess player should value the most (of course, there are other qualities, attributes which are essential as well, but ...) 1. Concentration 2. Self-confidence and 3. Hard work.
We should not let the happenings around us disturb us, especially not our Concentration. Having good self-control can be beneficial in this regard.
We should not let others' criticisms, comments, or opinions affect our self-confidence. Primarily, we should not allow our negative thoughts and emotions to affect our self-confidence. Not easy but possible.
According to our Indian culture/spirituality/religion, meditation can help in both aspects mentioned above.
Regarding hard work, to achieve anything worthy, we should first make ourselves deserving of it, worthy of what we aspire to achieve. We should not expect to get something or achieve something just because we want it or desire it. We should earn success, not feel entitled.
Khelo Bharat Niti 2025, a landmark initiative that reflects the Government’s unwavering commitment to nurturing a robust sporting ecosystem.
This policy truly lays the foundation for India's sustained global sporting achievements.
A salute to the unwavering spirit of our Indian Armed forces who stand tall,so we can live free.
Their courage, our pride. Their sacrifice, our strength.
Let’s stand united in gratitude and respect.
Jai Hind!

GM @HarikaDronavali bounces back strong! After a loss against GM Elizabeth Paehtz in the 5th round, Harika came back to winning ways by defeating GM Nana Dzagnidze in the 6th round of the FIDE Women's Grand Prix at Nicosia.
It was a fairly balanced game until a costly mistake from Nana in the endgame. Harika managed to trap Nana's Rook with her Bishop and Knight, winning decisive material and forcing resignation!
After 6 rounds of play, Harika is on 3.5/6 points. With 3 more rounds to go, Anna Muzychuk is the sole leader with 4.5/6 points. Zhu Jiner follows her with 4/6 points.

This is exactly what Aravindh @pawnof64squares Chithambaram had to say after entering the studio right after his fantastic win over Wei Yi in the 3rd round of @PragueChess Masters!
Aravindh is the sole leader of the tournament at the moment, and has climbed up to World no.16 in live ratings. What a run this guy is having! In the 4th round tomorrow, Aravindh will face Sam Shankland with the White pieces. Can he keep up this form till Round 9, and win the 2nd classical super tournament of his career?
