@psychedalex68@tarv28 Ruttman's car is available in individual packaging in 1/64. There were two different blister packs. There's also the Revell 1/24. I've also seen a pedal car. It's one of only two mass produced diecasts of our cars (the Jody Ridley 57 is the only other one)
@ChrisGe90850891@DirtyMoMedia According to Bob there was a scoring mishap and Morgan should have been on the lead lap while he was scored a lap down. That's probably one of those things I just need to film him explaining
Neil Bonnett gave his life to NASCAR in every sense of the word.
Similar to DW, he was as immensely popular as a driver as he was a broadcaster, both on CBS and on "Winners."
He didn't flinch when he replaced David Pearson in the Wood Brothers Mercury and continued their winning ways into the 1980s, even when shorter wheelbase cars were introduced.
He won the first Cup race in Australia, the last at Richmond Fairgrounds, was the first back-to-back winner of the Busch Clash, and also won consecutive Coca-Cola 600s. Those streaks came with different teams.
He was Dale Earnhardt's best friend and matched his toughness, coming back from multiple injuries to win nearly 20 races. He was about to come back again when he died in that crash. And that death had such an effect that two of his competitors retired from Winston Cup.
The question should be - why on earth hasn't Bonnett been inducted already?
May 21, 1983- Neil Bonnett and Terry Labonte took the top two spots in qualifying for the Valleydale 500 at Bristol. As mentioned earlier in the Notebook, Bonnett's Crew Chief Jake Elder was in the process of leaving the team and headed to the #47 car of Ron Bouchard.
May 21, 1983- NASCAR Notebook. Tommy Ellis teams up with Bill Terry; Suitcase Jake departs @RAHMOC75; and Stroker Ace prepares for a Charlotte premiere. Don't forget Stroker left Linda Vaughn at Talladega for a loaf of bread. Hopefully he didn't leave Pembrook at the premiere.
@EricEstepp17@philenespanol We're unhappy that Neil Bonnett has been ignored yet again. But yeah, maybe when Susan is gone and so his last three team owners they'll do it.
Also worth noting that Dave Marcis finished fourth in the 1984 running of the Delaware 500, tying his best finish for the team that year. Interesting side note, Dave's three top-5s that year were all fourth place finishes.
Joe Ruttman gave us our best overall finish at Dover in 1982 with a win in the now O'Reilly Series, but on the Cup side our luck tended to be a bit hit or miss. Neil Bonnett did the best, finishing 3rd in the 1987 Delaware 500. (Definitely not the Dover car. That's Riverside.)
