From lines submitted, we've made a Scottish People's Address to World Leaders. Fellow poet Niall Campbell joined me for an inaugural reading at @PTBOpoetry. The poem will be launched on Friday, St Andrew's Day.
It’s funny sometimes where this old writing life can take a gal.
Here’s “Poem of the Week” in @TheScotsman, ahead of my performance on Wednesday at Holyrood’s cross-party St Andrew’s Day celebration.

Women of the Day - the Edinburgh Seven, the first group of matriculated undergraduate female students at any British university. They began studying medicine at the University of Edinburgh in 1869 but were denied their degrees by the Court of Session which ruled that they should never have been admitted in the first place. 🧵
It began when Sophia Jex-Blake applied to study medicine. The university claimed it couldn’t possibly be expected to make arrangements for “just one lady” so she advertised in newspapers for other women to join her. She found six. Edinburgh had no choice but to admit them so it announced it would charge them more than men for attending the same classes. The Seven paid. Sophia actually tutored the other six in mathematics. 🧵
Wonderful news and no surprise to us. This essay is a remarkable piece of work, and part of an equally remarkable book which we are lucky enough to be publishing.
Privileged to be working with Rodge to bring #JoshuaintheSky out into the world next year, Summer 2024.
Not every review can be glowing, and we don't always agree with what's written. What we do appreciate is a considered reading, and that's what this is.
Thanks @scotsman_arts for this review of #ConnectiveTissue@EleanorJThom

So excited to be working with @rodgeglass on Joshua in the Sky, which will be published late summer 2024. This one is special.
Seeing Joshua's name in print makes me so happy. This book is an autobiography & biography in one, myself & my nephew linked by our shared pasts & rare blood condition. Thanks good folk @PressTaproot & esp to @JennyBrownBooks who has kept believing in me, for 20yrs. More soon ↘️
