The world's largest ship lift in operation: the Three Gorges Dam Ship Lift on the Yangtze River in Hubei, China.

This "elevator" moves ships up to 3,000 tons vertically 113 meters (370 ft) (about the height of a 40-story building) in about 40 minutes.

NEW: China officially opens the world’s tallest bridge, completing the project in under 4 years.

The bridge features a restaurant at the top, a whopping 2600 ft above the river.

The bridge not only cuts a 2-hour drive to 2 minutes, but also features as a theme park with a glass skywalk, a high-speed glass elevator, and a waterfall off the edge of the bridge.

Visitors can also bungee jump off of it.

The Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge is 2050 feet above the river and spans 4600 feet over the river.

A mother had briefly stepped out to drop her elder daughter at school, leaving her 4-year-old daughter alone at home. The curious child crawled under an open window, slipped, and was left hanging onto the edge.

Off-duty firefighter Yogesh Chavan noticed her, rushed to the floor, and found the door locked. He was about to break it when he saw the mother returning. She quickly opened the door, and he managed to rescue the girl just in time.

Parents, even a moment's absence can turn dangerous when young children are left alone. Never underestimate a child’s curiosity. Either don’t leave them alone, or if you have no other option, anticipate everything that could go wrong and secure the surroundings accordingly.
